Good food and service. I had an olive cheese burger deluxe and my husband had the special a grilled cheese and stacked ham sandwich. We both enjoyed our meals with fries.

Home town comfort, something you can’t get every where. The hot ham and cheese are definitely a hit and they have good week day specials. Great place to gather and catch up

Old school bar. Great place to go to get a cheeseburger. Oldest bar in Michigan. This place gets very busy so be prepared to wait a little bit. Food was good. Service was also friendly.

I went here for a late lunch. I heard about this place on Facebook and wanted to come here for the history. It also has good reviews. I ordered the fried chicken dinner which comes with fries, coleslaw and bread. The chicken is very good and exactly what I was looking for. The chicken was hot and fresh. The skin was crispy and not overly seasoned and the meat was moist with good flavor. It comes with a ton of fries but just a little bit of coleslaw. I would have liked less fries and more slaw. The slaw was good and tasted fresh. The bread was also good. It was 2 thick slices of a baguette. It would have been nice to have some garlic butter or honey butter to put on it, (but I shouldn't be eating bread anyway). I only ate the drumstick and wing and took the breast and thigh home. I ordered the Goulash to take home. It is a generous amount and definitely will be 2 meals. I tasted it before putting it in the fridge. It's meaty and has a good flavor, but it's seasoned more like an Italian pasta dish rather than goulash. It also came with bread. The staff is friendly and seemed to know a lot of the people there. Lots of local regular patrons. This tavern was originally a one room, log building for travelers to stop when going to Chicago. I think it would be cool if the interior had an old log cabin look.

I dropped by the Old Tavern Inn because I was interested in its claim of being Michigan’s oldest business. That is a cool feature, and there’s a nice booklet hanging near the bar that details the history, but the food and service were excellent too. The bartender was friendly and it seemed like a welcoming place. The food had big portions for decent prices, and the hot ham sandwich was way bigger than I expected. Both it and the cup of chili tasted great. If you’re in the area I’d definitely recommend giving the Old Tavern Inn a chance.

Been eating here since I was a child. I get out of the army and had little money. Me and my wife ate here when I was searching for work 35$ for 2 meals and a side it helped us out a lot with how affordable it was. I love this place and even now when I move to Michiwaka I place to come here when I can

Great historical site in the village of Sumnerville near Niles MI. Great food, excellent service and pleasant environment. I had the hot ham and cheese, their famous signature sandwich. I also enjoyed their fried cauliflower. Highly recommend!

Our first visit was last week- we’ve been missing out! We always see tons of cars in the lot so we know they get busy, but for us a quiet Tuesday was a perfect time to pop in for dinner. Just a few other patrons and it was very chill. Boyfriend had great fried chicken, I had wings in a moat of buffalo sauce and a giant olive burger. Everything was awesome! Pretty sure their dressings are house-made. We both had leftovers we got to save for lunch. Our server was so young and did a great job! We’ll be back soon!
